Who we are

Bow Valley Journal is a personal blog written by Sarah and Tom in Banff, Alberta. It is not affiliated with any lift or attraction operator, any ticket seller or any commercial partner. There is no company behind this site.

What we collect

Very little. Specifically:

• Contact form. If you write in via the contact page, we read your name, e-mail and message so we can reply. That’s it. We do not add you to any list.
• Server access logs. Like any web server, ours records the IP addresses and paths of visitors for a short window, purely for security and troubleshooting. These are not shared with anyone and are rotated automatically.
• One strictly necessary session cookie. See the cookies page.

What we don’t do

• No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics, no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no ad remarketing.
• No selling of tickets, no processing of payments, no credit card handling. There is no checkout on this site and never will be.
• No newsletter, no marketing e-mails, no forwarding of your address to anyone.
• No sponsored content, no affiliate links, no paid recommendations.

How long we keep things

Server logs are rotated on a rolling basis, typically within thirty days. Contact-form messages live in a personal inbox for as long as we might reasonably need to remember the thread. You can ask us to delete anything relating to you at any time by writing to [email protected].

Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and equivalents, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, and to ask us to delete it. Because we don’t collect much, this is usually a short conversation.

Children

The blog is written for adults planning a visit or thinking about mountain life. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. No mailing list to notify because there isn’t one.
